Dr Rashmita Das is an early-career medical microbiologist in the Department of Microbiology at Byramjee Jeejeebhoy Government Medical College and Sassoon General Hospitals, Pune, with a strong focus on applying genomics to understand infectious diseases and translate genomic data into actionable insights for surveillance and patient care. After MD in Microbiology from Grant Government Medical College and Sir JJ Group of Hospitals, Mumbai (2019), she has been actively involved in cross-institutional and interdisciplinary collaborations, including national surveillance projects under INSACOG and research partnerships with institutes such as CSIR-IGIB, New Delhi and CSIR-NCL, Pune. Her work spans multi-site, state- and national-level research studies and has resulted in multiple peer-reviewed publications. Her primary research interests include molecular biology and genomics of infectious diseases, antimicrobial resistance, epidemiology, and wastewater surveillance.
