The Women Scientists Scheme-A (WOS-A) by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), India, is designed to help women scientists restart their careers after a break by funding R&D projects. It focuses on empowering women by offering opportunities in basic and applied sciences. The scheme supports women aged 27-57 with a research grant to facilitate a return to mainstream science, helping them regain scientific positions and contribute significantly to research and development in India.

These scholarships support candidates from low and middle-income Commonwealth countries, including India, to spend up to 12 months at a UK university as part of their doctoral studies in their home country, promoting international research collaboration.
