Dr. Prajakta Bedekar is an Assistant Professor at IISER Tirupati. She is passionate about using mathematical tools to answer biological and biomedical questions. In academic year 2025-2026, she was an Assistant Professor at BITS Pilani’s Hyderabad Campus and previously worked as a postdoctoral fellow at Department of Applied Mathematics and Statistics at Johns Hopkins University (JHU), with a joint appointment as an International Associate at Applied and Computational Mathematics Division at National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).

Dr. Bedekar reformulates biological and biomedical questions in mathematical language and constructs mathematical models to tackle them in close collaboration with experimentalists. She graduated from the Department of Mathematics at the University of Houston with a PhD under the guidance of Dr Mikhail Perepelitsa and Dr Ilya Timofeyev.
